UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum today visited the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) where he inaugurated its new premises located in Deira. Touring the different sections of the Department and familiarizing himself with the run of work and the various services offered by the department, Sheikh Mohammed listened to a presentation given by the Director General of the Department Samy Dhaen Al Qamzi on the procedures adopted to facilitate various transactions through the customer centers in different locations, including the issuance of trade licenses through the department's modern transaction center. After meeting with a number of trainees, Sheikh Mohammed, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, ordered the launch of Dubai Department of Economic Development's initiative aiming to reach out to companies and investors at their sites, thus saving them the time and effort of visiting the department's headquarter to process their transactions. Sheikh Mohammed stopped at the self-service counter which updates clients on the latest laws and regulations of the department. Sheikh Mohammed filled up and signed an application form for trade license issuance to be kept in the department's archives, before stopping at the counter for trade control and consumer protection, where he was briefed on its functions and achievements. At the department's modern convention center, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the department's three initiatives which he later approved. The initiatives include setting up a foreign investment establishment, modifying licensing requirements and setting up a youth fund for small and medium size projects. Sheikh Mohammed urged the DED staff to launch more viable initiatives, while thanking them for the quality services they render to the public. Before concluding his tour, Sheikh Mohammed stopped at the "On Time" center where new trade names, trade licenses and other procedures of the department are kept. He praised the idea of the centre and other services offered by the department wishing the staff continued success. During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Director of Dubai Ruler's Court Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shebani and Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman.
